For refugees, life on Greek islands and mainland is an unexpected trial of emotional and physical endurance. A complex struggle with rampant homelessness, absent services, open attacks by fascists and consistent under-employment. Those who press further north into the Balkans live “rough” and struggle to find sources of heat, shelter and food for survival.
